Nordmann Fir
Abies nordmanniana, commonly known as the Nordmann fir, is a tall and stately evergreen tree that is native to the Caucasus region of Eurasia. This species is known for its conical shape, with a straight trunk and branches that form a pyramid-like crown. The needles are glossy and dark green, and grow in a spiral pattern on the branches, creating a lush and dense appearance. The cones are large and cylindrical, and can reach up to 20cm in length. Nordmann fir is a slow-growing tree that can reach up to 200 feet in height over several decades, making it an excellent choice for large landscapes or as a specimen tree. It is hardy in USDA zones 4 to 7 and prefers moist, well-drained soils. With its majestic appearance and attractive foliage, the Nordmann fir is a popular choice for gardeners and landscapers alike. Additionally, its needles have low allergenic properties, making it an excellent choice for those with allergies.
