American Sentry Linden
The American Sentry Linden (Tilia americana 'McKSentry') is a majestic deciduous tree known for its upright form, dense foliage, and fragrant flowers. This cultivar, selected for its strong central leader and symmetrical canopy, typically reaches heights of 40 to 50 feet with a spread of 20 to 30 feet, making it an excellent choice for street planting, large landscapes, or as a shade tree. In late spring to early summer, the American Sentry Linden produces clusters of small, fragrant, pale yellow flowers that attract pollinators and fill the air with a sweet aroma. The heart-shaped, dark green leaves turn a vibrant yellow in the fall, providing seasonal interest. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this tree is also tolerant of urban conditions, including pollution and compacted soils. With its robust growth, attractive foliage, and delightful fragrance, the American Sentry Linden is a superb addition to any landscape.
