Great Rhododendron
The Great Rhododendron, scientifically known as Rhododendron maximum, is a large evergreen shrub native to eastern North America. It is highly regarded for its impressive size, reaching heights of up to 30 feet (9 meters) and sometimes forming dense thickets. This rhododendron is known for its broad, dark green leaves and clusters of pink to rose-colored, bell-shaped flowers. The blooms typically appear in late spring to early summer and are a delightful sight in woodland gardens and natural landscapes. Great Rhododendrons thrive in acidic, well-draining soil and prefer partial to full shade. They are a valuable addition to ecosystems, providing habitat and nectar for various wildlife species.
