Commemoration Sugar Maple
Acer saccharum 'Commemoration' is a beautiful cultivar of the Sugar Maple, a deciduous tree native to North America. This variety is prized for its exceptional autumn display, with leaves turning shades of orange, red, and yellow. 'Commemoration' typically grows to a height of 50-60 feet and has a pyramidal shape with a dense crown. It also has a moderate growth rate and good resistance to pests and diseases. This cultivar is well-suited for large landscapes and as a shade tree in parks and residential areas. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade. The 'Commemoration' cultivar was developed to honor the contributions of the late John Harold Taylor, a Canadian horticulturist, and former director of the Toronto Botanical Garden. Overall, Acer saccharum 'Commemoration' is a beautiful and meaningful addition to any landscape.
