Crape Myrtle
Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia) is a genus of deciduous flowering trees and shrubs known for their stunning display of colorful flowers. They are native to parts of Asia and are widely cultivated for their ornamental value. Crape Myrtles come in various sizes, ranging from small shrubs to medium-sized trees, and they offer a wide range of flower colors including shades of white, pink, purple, and red. The flowers are borne in large clusters and bloom in the summer, creating a beautiful spectacle. In addition to their vibrant flowers, Crape Myrtles also have attractive bark that peels to reveal a smooth, mottled surface. The leaves are typically glossy and green, turning shades of yellow, orange, and red in the fall. Crape Myrtles are known for their ability to tolerate hot and dry conditions, making them well-suited for warm climates. They prefer full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, they are relatively low-maintenance. Crape Myrtles are commonly used as ornamental trees in gardens, parks, and landscapes, adding beauty and color to outdoor spaces.
