Paper Birch
Betula papyrifera, commonly known as paper birch, is a deciduous tree native to North America. It is known for its distinctive white bark that peels off in paper-like layers, revealing a reddish-brown inner bark. Paper birch leaves are simple, oval-shaped, and have serrated edges. In the fall, they turn a bright yellow color. Paper birch trees are often used for landscaping and in naturalistic gardens because of their attractive bark and graceful, airy form. They also provide habitat and food for a variety of wildlife, including birds and small mammals.
