Hedge Maple
Acer campestre, commonly known as the Field Maple or the Hedge Maple, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and western Asia. It's a medium-sized tree that can reach a height of 30 feet, although it is often smaller in gardens and parks. The leaves of Acer campestre are small with 5-7 lobes and a serrated edge. In the autumn, green leaves turn yellow or brown before falling off. The bark of the field maple is gray-brown and smooth when young, but becomes fissured and scaly with age. Small yellow-green flowers bloom in spring, followed by small, winged fruits known as samaras. Acer campestre is a hardy tree that is adaptable to a range of soil types and growing conditions, including urban environments. It's often grown as a hedge or as a specimen tree in parks and gardens.
