Golden Whorl Hinoki Cypress
Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Golden Whorl' is a slow-growing cultivar of the Hinoki Cypress, a coniferous evergreen tree native to Japan. It typically grows to be around 3-5 feet tall and wide, with a compact, mounding habit. The foliage is a bright golden-yellow color, with small, scale-like leaves that spiral around the stems. In the winter, the foliage can take on a slight bronzy tint. This cultivar is ideal for adding a pop of bright color to a garden bed or mixed border. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil.
