Sourwood
Sourwood (Oxydendron arboreum) is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America, celebrated for its stunning seasonal transformations. During the summer, it graces the landscape with glossy green leaves, but as autumn arrives, these leaves burst into a breathtaking array of reds, oranges, and yellows. Reaching heights of 25 to 60 feet, the tree displays a slender, pyramidal to oval-shaped crown. Clusters of small, urn-shaped white flowers appear in the summer, not only adding to its beauty but also attracting bees that produce the coveted sourwood honey. The bark, dark and rough, contrasts nicely with the foliage, making sourwood a sought-after choice in landscaping, thriving in varied soil types and climates. Its vibrant colors and contribution to honey production make it a favorite among gardeners and nature enthusiasts.
